This is a very emotional blog of mine… because it’s going to be my last one… that’s right people… marie is graduating!!!! and not only i’m graduating, i’m also leaving my dear school and my dear council bluffs for omaha and UNO!!!

well i remember my first year here at iwcc, it was scary!!! i didn’t know what to except, but let me tell you it was the best experience of my life and i’ve learnt so much that it’s even unreal to me!!! and like i said earlier, it’s a bit emotional for me because i really really like this school and the person, the growth up, the mature, intelligent woman i’m right now, is all because of my 2 and a half year at this school!!!

It was a spectacular road that was not easy!!I first came to study dental hygiene, and then switch to pre-med, then to general ed, and then to university transfer, which was the best decision i’ve ever made because it kinda let me try different classes and realize which ones i can or cannot do!! and earn credits by doing so! Thanks to that, currently i’m affirmative to how further i want to go and what i want to do in the future!

iwcc makes me believe in myself and discover what i was really capable of doing!!!

I don’t want to say more because i might go on and on… hehehehe ^_^ but i do want to say thanks to all my teachers!!!! thanks to you dear people that thaught me so so much!!! and for all the friends i made here, all my roomates, kelly, heather, rosie, my best friends, rosa, gabby, ale, liz… and all of you librarians, graig ( sorry dude, i don’t know how to spell you name ^_^) Ellen, and more… and also you amazing human being Lindsay for believing in me and letting me blog!!! and to you mary for being the sweetest person ever… and all the administration people!!! to all of you staff at IWCC thanks you so much!!! you have made a beautiful butterfly that is ready to go further than any butterflies have ever being ^_^!

This is it, this is the last steps to beautifully finish a great semester; all the hard works, all the studying… finally a break to breathe in and enjoy class-free days!!! but wait a minutes, we are not there yet, there is one more week to go; and that week is not any ordinary week! it’s finals weeks!!! finals are very serious time of the semester, that’s when one study more than ever, and have so much presentations and papers to turn in… it’s also a very stressfull time, but don’t worry i’m here to make it fun! take a break from studying and come to the LIbrary!!! the coolest library ever! the best place to be in school!!!

Not only the library has awesome librarians that are available and cheerful whenever everytime for help or just a sample chat… the library also has awesome students body that makes it warm and welcome!!! I’m subscribed to that place, i go everyday and spend at least 5 hours there!!! don’t get me wrong, it not because i have homework worth 5 hours everyday!!! in fact mostly i go there for different reasons!

computers are available for students to work, surf the web or even check mails or myspace… and like i mentioned before, the people in the library are the best! it’s easy to make friends, it’s easy to receive warm hugs or laugh at funny jokes, it’s easy to listen to people talk and learn something new!!!

One of the goodies about the library is the coffee!! yup that’s right, the library provide free coffee everyday at anytime, you just get to go and serve yourself! how easy is that!!!!

Another one of my favorite things to do there is read magazine, the library has every kind of magazine or even new papers! so if you want to read the new issue of OK magazine and can’t afford it, come to the library and help yourself!

The library is opened monday through thursday from 8:00am to 9:00pm and on fridays form 8:00am to 4:00pm and saturday from 10:00am to 2:00pm… finals weeks are different too because the hours might change, it might be opened later for students that might want to study late!

Ouyeah for the library!!! Yeah for the librarians and all the people that makes it fun…

Good luck on Finals and remember, if too stress just come to the library to relax, for coffee or even for friendship!!! come To study, write, read, surf web, chat online, check mails, myspace, facebook… come see me, come come…

If you are wondering what to do during this thanksgiving break beside eating and passing out full of mashed potatoes and gravy… go to the movie and watch Twilight!!!

If you are into reading ( and you should be ^_^) go ahead and read the book and then, go to the movie!!! it’s like one of the best movie i’ve ever seen!

I’m not going to talk about what is it about to spoil it for those who haven’t seen it yet! but i will sure give a hint: there so many hotties ( both guys and girls) so go check it out!!!

after Thanksgiving, and maybe after going to see Twilight, don’t forget to go back to homework… if you are me and have finals coming up like in a week, you better get to the books and study!!! a lot of papers are due, presentation to be done and accumulative finals!

Keep your head up! i know Christmas coming up is a very exciting thing… and it’s hard to concentrate! but school is very important… so people good luck with finals and happy thanksgiving!

If you wonder who are those people? that’s of course me, marie, your favorite blogger (hehehe) and bakha (sorry if i spell your name wrong) ^_^ but ya this picture was taken today in the student center!!! well you might wonder why marie looks so formal? well it’s not my typical casual clothes! i was wearing this because i had to participate to a fashion show!

well you see, this week is the international friendship week here at iwcc and there’s a bunch of events every day in honor of the international students, and also for people that are just interested in other countries. 

Tonight was the fashion show ( a show where different students were allowed to present traditional coustumes from their countries! it was really fun and i learnt from it!

Well if you want to know what i’m wearing, it’s a coustume from Jelisco Mexico, that was owed by a very special lady! it’s a very elegant coustume and it feat me!!! the reason i’m wearing it!! hehehe

anyways it’s cool that here at iwcc a lot of cultures get together in a special whole week to just celebrate and honor their country!!! yeah for iwcc!

Monday november 10, 2008 I, Marie can proudly declared i had a great day :D  yup it’s a big deal because usually, mondays are stressful for everyone ( let me know if you like mondays)

The thing about mondays is, it’s the first day of the week ( according to the french calendar hahaha) it’s also the day when one try to adjust to everything after a nice weekend! it’s not always easy to wake up early and go to class when the night before you slept till 4:00pm ( me ^_^).. also homework and everything is due on mondays!!! and monday nights is the time for more and more homeworks!!!!

anyways, today is supposed to be worse because i had a microbiology exam!!! honestly that class is hard ( for me) but again it’s one of my favorite classes because it’s super interesting!!!

I then woke up earlier than usual and review for the exam; then went to my first class which is statistic!!!

First sign of a great day: my class got cancelled ( nope i’m not lazy, but i’m not gonna cry about it… ^_^) really, it was good because i had more time to review for microbiology!

then after reviewing, i went to microbiology class and supriseling i felt like the exam was takable! for once since i started taking this class i actually felt like the exam is easy!!!

After class i then found out that i got accepted into the university i wanted to go to!!! sweet thing right?!?

right now i’m just chilling and very happy for this amazing monday! (no homework!!!) if you had a bad monday hopefully reading this blog will make you feel better! or just think tomorrow is a new day and it would be brilliant for you!!!!

last thursday here on campus we had a transfer fair! for someone who has never gone to a transfer fair before, i was pretty much impressed! so many universities…they were all sitting at different table/stations and each station had the name and the symbol of the school they were representating. 

Luckily enough, the top five universities i was considerating were there! even though i have already applied to some of them… it was the opportunities to touch base with the representants and learn more about the schools and also, it was the time to pick up application copies from schools i haven’t applied to yet and filled them out!!!

Talking about that, there’s something called deadline, and if you are interested in nursing or any carrier that is not general education, you better at least apply a semester in advance… don’t wait til the last month to consider schools! trust me, i learnt the hard way!!!

The thing that really bothers me is the fact that, it took me forever to determine what i really wanted to do in the future!!! chosing a carrier is not easy because there so many options to consider! the top one that i think about before anything are:

• am I going to find a job after my education? in other words what’s the job outlook on the carrier?
• am i able to embrace that carrier? for example if you want to be a nurse, you better like science and do well in it, and you better like people and blood and needles… (just kidding, well not really! ^_^)
• Do i see myself doing that kind of job for the rest of my life?
• the location is important too, for example if i ever decided to move to another country/continent, can i still do that kind of job
• and how long would it takes me to complete my education?
• and finally, how much would i be making?

so then, when all of those are fulfilled, then you have a major, and now that you have a major! what kinda degree do you want to owe? an associate? a bachelor? a master,  a phD…

beyond associate, you need to go to a 4 years universities!!! so you have to transfer! that’s when deadlines and requirements settles in…

For some people it’s not hard to transfer because for day one they know that after high school they would go to iwcc and then to iowa state for their  bachelor in accounting and they would work for the local bank or whatever…

but for others?  we search from school according to the majors they offer…

so if you are a freshman and want to tranfer and you don’t have any clue where you want to go yet! hmmm it’s about time to figure that out! talk to your advisors, go online, search schools, visit schools and so forth!!!

Ok, last night after spending hours in the library making my power point presentation, (for a research paper in microbiology) i was going home when Julie ( a very sweet friend of mine) came to me and pretty much all excited, she told me she was thinking about her future lately and she pretty much is trying to figure it out… it made me think a lot and here for you dear readers… have you ever thought about your future?

I mean that’s why we work/go to class trynna get a degree right? but that’s not what i meant… i mean future like where would you be in ten years?

we all have different plans and goals but some how no matter how individual we are… our goals somehow ressemble… for example most girls want to be a mother, a typical guy would want to be financially secure and so forth…

No matter how ambition your goal is, remember EVERYHING IS POSSIBLE!!!! there would be obtacles, but those are only meant to make you stonger! learn from them and be wiser!!! no matter what don’t give up!! go for what you want and don’t let nobody tells you… you can’t do it!

for example I would love to see myself in providence/colorado/council bluffs (some small towns) ..practicing ob/gyn, having a family  and being financially secure! it might or might not happen… it doesn’t keep me from studying harder now…

So good luck for all of you in deciding your future, take some times and really think about it, and those of you that have no clue yet… don’t stress, it would come eventually! stay warm!!!

We just had two days off… waaaay sweeeeeeeet… i feel like it was well deserved; we needed to take a break after midterm and from all our classes…

it’s not easy to be in college, some of us have a job others a family to take care of plus the job and the school… and those who are freshman… it’s a lot of new stuff to take in, and sometime, one can be overwhelmed and depression settle in…

depression is a very serious disease, it makes one feel like there’s no tomorrow, and no matter what he/she does, she will not successed and always be a failure, i can not tell you the cause of depression because it varies from people to people, some people might be depressed because even though they study hard, they didn’t get the grade they wanted, and others might be depressed by tragic events such as breaking up with boyfriends/girlfriends, loosing a bestfriends or family members and so forth! but i also can say that some people get drepressed for no particular reason!!

Whenever depressed you should have love ones around, try to not be alone because that’s when you feel at your worse, talk about it, even though it might feel like there’s no future to whatever… try to stay as positive as possible and if you feel suicidal, contact a health professional!

Just try to pick up something, you use your fingers right? but in order for the thing to be picked up, every single finger comes together to work in harmony right? well that’s exactly how i view friendhip! here’s a little poem, my way of describing friendship:D

When life becomes hard, when you need a shoulder to cry on, when you are happy and want someone to cry joy with!when you make a big mistakes and you feel like the whole world will reject you, when family is too far from you; when you are alone, and need to talk!u should be able to rely on your friends! friendship is special; it’s not selfish, it doesn’t search for its own good, it’s patient, it’s forgiven, it’s eternal, and it’s real! friendship shouldn’t involve jealousy, bad influency, sadness, regrets! it’s should be pure, innocent and a positivity in one’s life

I know this is kinda cheesssy but at this moment in life when we are in college trying to build a future, we should be surrounder by positives people! so know who your real friends are

I promised i’m going to talk about living on campus! like i’ve mentioned before i live in the apartments, (i’m not saying my apt # i don’t want stalkers hehhee) so the apts are the buildings that look like apts… easy huh? anyways i have roomates, and they are awesome! we have two bedrooms in total and two beds per room, (the beds are funished by the school )a dining room which has a dining table+ chairs, a living room(that you get to decorate as you want) a kitchen(which comes with refrigerator and counters) and a bathroom with a bathtub, and everything an average bathroom got. 

Living on campus is fun because every week there are activities that the housing committee organized for us.  YOu get to meet new people make new friends and get the most of your college experience! also we have a clubhouse, where people hang out at, it also has a laudry room in it, where you can do your laundry!

 each building has an RA (resident assistant) who helps with everything.  Each building is very close to the school so that one can walk to class!!!

there are also other kind of housing such as the suite,and the residential hall!! each facility has an entertainment center!

but let go back to where i live, the apt! hehehe… anyways we just decorated our living room! at the beginning of the semester we didn’t have any furniture in the living room! we were going super cool but now we change our mind, we wanna be as every one else! hahaha, so now we get some furniture, but trust me they are sweet!!! very different, very unique just like us…. and we have a fish who is called the fish bait who killer?! sumthing like that….everyone is welcomed to our apt…. except stalkers… hehehee
