Closing.

Wats up everybody. It is that time, and the school year has wined down. And I am SOOOOOOOOOOOO happy. I’m very proud of myself for sticking with school this time around, because last time, I let other things get to me and I quit. But I’m glad I came back, because I met some great folks here at I-dub. Its not really much to say…I’ve really enjoyed blogging this semester, and if possible, I’ll be back on again next semester. So everybody out there, have a safe summer, and like some of my blogs said: Stay clean, think before you act, and don’t get caught up in anything that can ruin your life. Life’s too short…

With that said, I’m logging out. Much love to all the bloggers, and Lindsay, it was great meeting you this year. Good luck in all you do. And all IWCC graduates, good luck in your next endeavor. Bless you all!!

Summer Employment

I just can’t wait to tell you guys about my very, very interesting place of work. I have been searching high and low for a job ALL SCHOOL YEAR, and had no luck anywhere. For college students, a job is a must have for all the nicks and knacks needed to survive. So when I got the call about a job interview at Sapp Bro’s Truck Service Shop, I thought to myself, “might as well try it, nobody else wants to hire you”. So I went to the interview and everything and I got hired. HIP HIP HOORAY…

As I got ready for the first day of work, many thoughts were going through my head. I knew I would be working face to face with truck drivers from all over the country, so I tried to prepare myself for the different environment of work I was entering. Little did I know, I couldn’t prepare myself for this job. Anything was possible with truckers.

On my first day, I was faced with a situation that could only lead me to two things, being fired, or going to jail. LOL. A guy comes in and ask me if we sell “pigtails”. Me, being brand new to the trucker scene, I didn’t know what “pigtails” were. So I looked at him kind of crazy and was like, “uh, I don’t know”. The man proceeds to get loud with me, and says “how you not gon’ know if ya’ll got any pigtails or not? You work here don’t ya, DON’T YA?” Now for those who don’t know me, I am a very, very, VERY nice person. Very laughable and energetic, but I found this situation a violation of my politeness. So I looked at him and said, “NO, we don’t have no pigtails”! And the man started yelling saying, “I’m bout to walk over here to this rack, and if ya’ll got some pigtails, I’mma come back over here and whoop your ***”!!! WHOOOOOOAAAAA! Time out, pause, pump the brakes, rewind, play again! This man that had never met me a day in his life, told me that he was going to “whoop my ***”! So I politely told him, “you don’t know me, SIR. And I will fight you, and then beg for my job back!” Though I wouldn’t do that, it just sounded right at the time. LOL. He went and found some “pigtails” and came walking to the counter yelling how he was going to do this and that, only at the end of it to say, “boy, I’m just givin’ you a hard time, I know its your first day”. And proceeded to laugh hysterically like the matter was soooooo funny. I laugh at it now, but in no way shape or form did I find it funny that day.

Lesson for those outspoken and too friendly people out there…watch who you “play” with because some people, like myself, will take it serious and things might escalate to problems.

Since then, I’ve had no customers like that, but I’ve had some crazy folks. I think this will be a very interesting, yet fun and comical job for the summer. Let’s just pray nobody else comes in yelling, “I’MMA WHOOP YO ***”!!!!!!

IWCC’s GOT TALENT

On April 14, 2009, Iowa Western held a campus wide talent showcase. The first event of it’s kind this school year. And I got my chance to show everyone what I love to do. And if you don’t know what that passion of mine is, it’s singing, and making music that I can perform.

The event was free and it took place in the Arts Center. There were 12 acts of singing, rapping, guitarist, dancers, and comedians. It was a night that folks will never forget. I took home 3rd place and my good friends Blak Ribbon, a rap group, took home first. I had a lot of friends and family in the audience so I felt very good. I did my thang and I have no complaints. I hope we can do the same thing next year. I’m sure the talent will increase.

Big Guy Fashion…

Now…whether you have a lot of money or not, I don’t know too many people who can say they don’t like shopping for clothes. Anytime there’s money to spare, I like to buy a shirt, a pair of shoes, or something. However, being that I ate all of my green beans and drank all of my milk when I was younger, I am a bit bigger than the average guy. My trouble always comes into play when I go to try to find an outfit for a party or event.

Stores feel like they are being compatible to all sizes by adding a big and tall section for men, and plus size for ladies. But my thing with the men is, they gear in those sections are never like the ones in the “young” mens section. But wait, I’mma young man too…so thats a bit messed up. Young or old, if you’re big, you have to shop in the big and tall section?? SECURITY!!! LOL

For me being my size, I feel that I can go to a store and pick out a nice, fresh fit and stay under a certain amount. But some guys who are a little bigger than I am, don’t have that privilege. They are stuck with the stretchy polos, and elastic waist pants. If  really had a thing for fashion…I would start my own big man’s fashion line. Because everything is always for the little guys.

Last but not least, if you are indeed a bigger guy, please…PLEASE stop wearing clothes that are too small for you. Stores like Abercrombie and Fitch and Hollister are not meant for bigger guys. A&F shirts are not meant for the logo to spread all the way from one armpit to the next. Not trying to be funny, just giving my opinion.

Too Grown for This…

What’s up everybody…I have really been slacking on the whole blog thing, and I deeply apologize. Pure laziness on my behalf. I always think about it, but then don’t do it…so I am setting it in my phone to blog TWICE a week. LOL. Anyways…

My question of the day is…why do people do things behind your back??

Well, about 2 weeks ago, I came to face this situation. I had just finished eating lunch in our cafeteria and I was at a table with a few people that I know. Anybody that knows me, knows that I don’t do anything to get on anyone’s bad side. I am just that like-able person. Anyways…my girlfriend was at the table with me and a guy comes into the cafeteria and says nothing to either one of us, but spoke to others at the table. I was not worried about that, because I didn’t know the guy, just familiar with seeing him around campus. But like I said, he said nothing to us. I then got ready to leave for my class and kissed my girlfriend goodbye and left. About a hour later, my girlfriend starts blowing my phone up. I was still in class, and I knew that she knew that. So I text her and told her that I was in class and what’s up? She then told me that a guy was in her face, cussing her out and walking up on her, as if he was going to hit her. WHOA!!! Time out…pause the game…replay…a GUY…confronting a GIRL as if she was another GUY……..BAD CALL!!! So I immediately left class to find her. She then told me that the guy, was the same guy that had not said ANYTHING to us 1 hour prior to this incident. So behind my back…this guy wants to try to “scare” my girlfriend, AFTER I had left the cafeteria. I felt outraged and very disappointed that he would waited until I left to do such a thing. After hearing that her boyfriend, me, was mad and looking for him, he wanted to apologize about the whole situation. Which I respected. But it didn’t change the fact that he came at her sideways, and worst of all, called her out her name. But being the person that I am, I could do nothing but accept his apology, and make sure that this wouldn’t happen again.

Now after this all being said, Iowa Western is NOT a place of conflict. Its just sometimes, people like to act before they think. Had he thought about the problem and came to her like an adult, it would have never came to the animosity and confusion that it did. But I hold no grudges. I am not here to walk around campus with a HATE monkey on my shoulder. I just want to do my work and graduate and occasionally have some fun with my friends. LOL.

This just comes to me saying, we are in college now. We are paying for our education. There is no need for fights and things of that sort. We all should be able to talk about situations and come to a common ground or understanding. If not, then certain folks shouldn’t be here. We are all too grown to be fighting for no reason.

Stay safe…study hard…and let’s get ready for the SUMMER!!!!

SPRING DISASTER….

When we hear that spring break is approaching, the thought of what to do quickly comes to mind. For college students, a MAJOR break, is SOME kind of vacation. For me, I usually just want to sleep. And leave the traveling for the summer.(It’s longer…) But this year, I wanted to give the traveling thing a whirl. MTV was having auditions for Diddy’s new show, Making His Band, and I figured I’d give it a shot.

I had talked about making the trip for awhile and soon, a few of my close friends were interested in making the trip with me. So I came to the conclusion, that right now, money isn’t how I would like, why not split everything between the folks going. That was the plan. Disaster struck when my friend decided that she was going to rent the vehicle and I would reserve rooms after I had everything already planned out. But being that she said she could get things cheaper, I agreed(my mistake). The room reservations were made, and that was coo. When it came time to pick up the rental, thats when my plan unfolded. My friend informed my mom that she wasn’t able to get the rental…THE DAY OF OUR TRIP. Being that it was after 6pm, it was going to be kind of hard to get a rental. Me and a friend of mine ended up putting in 200 extra dollars, just to rent a car at the last minute. And being that I was already broke going on the trip, I was EXTREMELY P’D OFF!!! We didn’t end up leaving until 11pm that night being that we were suppose to leave at 5:30pm.  I drove all night to Chicago. Once there, we checked into our rooms, and I immediately went to the audition line. I stood in line for8 hours before auditioning. I was P’D off again, when I was only able to sing for 15 seconds before I was cut off and sent on my way. Being told that I would get a callback, that I never received. I felt played and I was ready to go. I had no money really, only for food and gas, and I felt like the trip was a waste of time for me and everyone that went. The only good part I can say was that I got to spend time with my baby, my bro’s  and my best friend, even though she upset me on the trip. I didn’t get to go clubbing, shopping or anything because everything closed early on Sunday, so I really felt ready to go home.

The only conclusion I can come to, is next time, I will better prepare for my trips. And whatever plan I come up with, I will stick to that plan. And whoever don’t like it, doesn’t have to go, ya feel me? LOL!!! l_73233a80c36a408897559deb46ffa774.jpg

College Cleanliness

Now, I know I said that I would direct most of my blogs towards my fellas, but this is something that I think I should address to EVERYBODY!!!!

When we hit a certain age, normally, we develop a sense to take care of ourselves and our surroundings. What I mean by this is; we develop the ability to dress ourselves, clean ourselves, and clean UP after ourselves. Which brings me to my main point. There is no reason at all that fully capable college age persons should not be able to do the previous stated. We are all in COLLEGE. We should not have to have people constantly reminding us to pick up after ourselves. That is TRIFLING! If you live on campus, whether you stay in the dorms, suites, or apartments, you are not living alone. You need to adjust to the fact that you live with other people now. When you were staying with your parents, I’m pretty sure they didn’t let you go for MONTHS without cleaning up your room or cleaning the bathroom. Those same rules should have followed in your conscience to college. Be courteous to the people living around you.

Another thing: If you have a class late in the day such as 12p.m. or later, sleeping until 30 minutes before your class is totally fine if thats what you want to do. What isn’t ok is knowing that you have class at 12p.m. and waking up at 11:30 and not taking care of your bodily hygiene. Getting up and going is NOT ok!!! That is disrespectful to yourself, and to the noses around you that have to smell your disturbing body fragrance. And in no way shape or form am I trying to be funny. I am trying to speak on something that hopefully a few certain somebody’s will read and take note on. And if this blog refers to you, then you need to clean up your ACT…..

REMEMBER…CLEANLINESS IS NEXT TO GODLINESS!!!!!

Valentine’s Day??

Wats good er’body! As I said in my intro, I am going to point a lot of my blogs in the direction of male readers interest. As you all may know, Feb. 14 is the annual female holiday; Valentine’s Day…suppose to be meant for lovers and what not. Let me be the first to say(or maybe not the first) that I really could care less about Valentine’s Day. Yes, I am in a relationship; however, I don’t see anything so spectacular about Valentine’s Day. I have no problem with giving my girlfriend gifts or flowers or whatever, on any given day. But people put too much thought into February 14th. Another thing, I, as a guy, feel that Valentine’s day is not for us. There’s not really a gift you can give a guy on Valentine’s Day. When you go to any store and walk through the Valentine isle, nothing flashes as a “guy gift”. True enough, you can buy your partner whatever you want, but as the “tradition” goes, great gifts are candy, teddy bears, and giant shaped hearts!! None of which strikes me as gifts for a guy. I don’t know…maybe it’s just me, but I am no fan on Valentine’s Day.

As for my relationship, I will do something for my girl on Valentine’s Day, just because you should show the one you’re with some love and affection. As far as going all out, I don’t know. I can pick a random day and do that, I’m not going to just do that because it’s a so called holiday. NO, I don’t consider Valentine’s Day a holiday. The only exception I give for going all out, is in my aunt and uncle’s situation. They were married on February 14, 1994, so they will be celebrating a wedding anniversary. That is my only exception. LOL!

Well ya’ll, that’ll be it for now. I’ll be back again next week. Be looking out!!!
