Phi Theta WHAT?!?

Hey everyone!  Does have any CLUE what Phi Theta Kappa is???  Well, it’s something that the three of us are PSYCHED about this year (k that might be a tad bid of an overstatement but whatev)!  We are one of the largest clubs on campus (we have, like, over 200 members!), even though we only have maybe 10 active members.  I know, weird right?  It’s kind of confusing, but Phi Theta Kappa is a service “club” thats kind of like a college equivalent to National Honor Society.  We had orientation last Monday, and Induction this Tuesday.  So if your one of those crazy kids we sent letters to and had no idea what we were talking about, COME TO THE STU. CENTER ON TUESDAY, 6:00pm!  Even if you haven’t paid the money (which means you won’t get inducted) we’ll let you know all about it so you can be inducted next semester!  MKAY???  lol- seriously just come out to check it out, if you decide you don’t want to do it, no biggie; right?  At least you came and conquered!

Aight?  Coo.  Peace Out! –lol

This is an important announcement regarding Flamingos!

FLAMINGOS ARE FLOCKING!!!

Starting September 8th two pairs of flamingos (the kind you put in the yard-plastic, not real!) will be “migrating” throughout the IWCC campus finging the faculty and taking up residence outside their offices.  These flamingos will be present for the next two weeks.  If you see these flamingos PLEASE DO NOT REMOVE THEM.  If you are a faculty member who does not wish for the flamingos to find you, feel free to purchase insurance from Phi Theta Kappa for a small amount of $5, contact Susannh Go for the insurance card and make sure it is displayed outside your office so the flamingos will know not to flock there!  THE INSURANCE WILL STOP ON THE 12th, so get it early or flamingos might just show up outside your door!  If you do happen to find the flamingos outside your door, you may remove them by contacting Susannah Go and paying the removal fee of $10.  Once you pay the removal fee YOU GET TO CHOOSE WHERE THE FLAMINGOS GO NEXT (as a bonus for being “flocked”)!

Phi Theta Kappa appreciates your donations!  The money from this fundraiser will go towards Phi Theta Kappa sending its officers to Convention and the various projects we have planned for the year!  Thank you for your help and watch out for the flamingos!

So this past week I helped out at my church’s annual Vacation Bible School. I was in charge of teaching the kids music, and I was in charge of games. And get this, we had about 50 kids! My church is pretty tiny, so that was a big deal. We played all of our games outside (yes, it is EXTREMELY) hot outside, but luckily I tried to incorporate water into almost all of the individual games we played. That helped, although let me tell ya, it is hard to control that many kids all trying to run in one sprinkler! Those kids tired me out, so we went out for ice cream a couple of the nights after we had finished up. This is where I’m putting in a punch for Petrows on 60th and Dodge (? I think thats right). GREAT ICE CREAM. And by that time, it wasn’t very crowded. If anybody is new to the Omaha-C.B. area, you should totally check it out. Love. It.

Vacation is….almost over :(

Well, here it is. The home stretch. Fun-in-the-sun is about over for this year. The fam. got back from Minnesota on July 21st, and now it seems like theres no time to stop and catch your breath! This week I’m teaching at a Vacation Bible School for my Church, and today was the first day. The kids from the community are so cute, and everyone was really excited to be there. Community Service is actually pretty fun, so my sisters and I are looking forward to Phi Theta Kappa this year to be a part of that with the school. Other than that, it seems like summer’s almost come to an end. I’ve pretty much decided I’m going to be a part time student here at IWCC, but I think I’ll be able to graduate and get my Associate’s in the spring or maybe the summer. I just finished both of my summer online classes, so I guess I’ll just have to keep up the pace! I’ll keep you posted!!!

Oh-and an update on my exercising, it’s working! I’m toning up some of my muscles, and it feels great! I don’t do that much, but I run a little bit, and do arm and leg exercises daily (unless I forget!). What’s next…maybe I’ll try pilates or something. Hey, why not jump on the bandwagon!?! lol

Hello from Minnesota!

Well, starting on July 4th, my family and I packed up and hit the road!  We stopped in Brookings, South Dakota for the night, and as we went out to get some dinner and see a movie…the car started smoking!!!  Not gonna lie…I kinda freaked out a little.  I know absolutley NOTHING about cars, but my dad figured out that it was the radiator.  We walked all around Brookings (as the car was stuck in the theatre’s parking lot) and found that the one auto parts store that was open for the holiday had closed five minutes earlier…what a bummer.  So we tried to have as much fun as was possible, and it was pretty good excercise after a day of driving, but we all were wondering what would happen to our trip.  The next morning my dad got up early and got the car to the auto parts store, they fixed the radiator (or maybe it was something with a hose???) and we were on our way!  We got to our resort with no problems, until we got the boat in the water.  That was when we found out it wasn’t working, but no worries, its at the mechanic’s RIGHT NOW so it should be fixed either later today or tomorrow!  Then I’m in for two weeks of fun in the sun!

….News….

Okay…so far, summer’s been pretty mellow. Mostly I’ve just been chilling with my fam and doing a bunch of housework around. I finally got registered for classes up at UNL so I can continue with my program of study (interior design), but I will still be taking some online courses through IWCC. I’m kind of nervous, just because UNL is soooo much bigger than IWCC. You know, at IWCC, even if you don’t KNOW everybody, it seems closer and you know some people just by face recognition. I guess its all part of growing and moving on.

Also…summer classes. Those kind of suck. Their not really hard of anything, I’ve just never taken any classes during the summer before. At least it’s one more thing I don’t have to deal with during the school year.

But of course, the one thing I am looking forward to the most is MINNESOTA. Every year, my family goes and spends two weeks up at a resort in Park Rapids, MN. That is my absolute FAVORITE place in the world. I can’t wait to put some pictures up so everyone can see it. It’s beautiful. Theres this lake and we take our boat out and go waterskiing, wakeboarding, kneeboarding, and tubing. It’s such a great…well everything. I literally count down the days. So…I can’t wait to blog about it.

Which brings me to…blogging. I love blogging. I’ve just been having some extreme issues with the program. Most of it, I just accidently solving myself. Like my post…porlazey=EXERCISE. I wrote this, like, two weeks ago…and I logged on today and it wasn’t posted! I don’t know what I did, but I found it so I’m now posting it. That explains the two posts on one day. Soooo…now that I sound completely crazy…this is the end of my blog.

But that’s entertainment, right? lol

borlazey=EXERCISE!

I have made up a new word! BORLAZEY. This is a combination of the words “boring” and “lazy”, due to the fact that (because of the number of storms that have been happening) I have been confined to the indoors of my home. And I am bored. And lazy. So to stop this…I have decided to EXERCISE!!! Yeah i know, probably should be doing that already right? Lol, well this time I am actually going to do it. I’ve decided that everyone has room to become healthier, and since I’m not going to drastically change the way I eat, I might as well work it off! Plus, I have to look good in my swimsuit right? I’m starting off slow and doing stuff in my own house: pushups, squats, lunges, cardio, and weights. Hopefully this will keep me in shape for my WAKEBOARDING and WATERSKIING trip to Minnesota in a couple of weeks!!! (Miracle?!?!) Wish me luck-I’ll post updates!!!

Summer Update

So just an update- I would say my online classes are going well, I finished my first practice case brief (worth no points, but will help when the ACTUAL case briefs are due!)  I am gearing up for my first Sociology test…which actually opened today, so I should probably be taking that soon so if I have any problems I can get them taken care of.  I actually kind of enjoy the discussion boards…its interesting to see what people have to say.

This is beside the point- but I was helping my mom in her flower garden about a week ago…and I saw a snake!  I think it was probably just a harmless little snake… but still…ewwww.  It didn’t hang around long enough for me to snap a picture, otherwise it would be up here!  I’ll try to upload some summer pictures, just for some fun.  I like finding funny pictures and posting captions about them…so if I post a pic and you think of a caption feel free to post it in a comment!  OR if you find any typos in headlines or something (like on Jay Leno for all of you Tonight Show fans you could post those too!)  I think that’s about it…I’m about reading to sit down to my Soc. book for some study time and a homemade hot-off-the-grill hamburger!

 All for now!

Online Course

Online courses have started. I am proud of myself, I have actually mapped out a schedule/calander for myself so I don’t get behind (or forget to do something!) for my soc class.  I just registered for a constitution class.  Literally like five minutes ago.  I really hope I haven’t bitten off more than I can chew with that.  I figure just keep positive and I’m good to go.  I hope I understand what is going on with the online classes.  I have already gotten frustrated with it though, yesterday when I tried to log on I was having trouble with my password, I clearly wasn’t typing it in right, but I got that all figured out.  HOPEFULLY all will go well (just a little nervous about making sure I have an internet connection when I go on vacation).

For you readers out there- feel free to comment these blogs!  As a writer I would love to hear your comments!  Feel free to ask questions or if you are experiencing the same things as me feel free to tell me about it!

I think that I will take a break and watch a movie- all for now!
