Reporting Live From Iowa City

Slogan For University of IowaFirst and foremost, my confidence about health was slashed when a student accidentally came down with a cold and unknowingly passed it to my little immune system.   No hard feelings, I now have what I would in a way consider a vacation for about 2 weeks here at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics.

Parts of the Body Cf AffectsIf you are curious about what it is exactly that landed me here, it is that joyous Cystic Fibrosis.  If I didn’t have it, I would still be fascinated by it due to such extreme symptoms.  Www.cff.Org  There you will discover what exactly it is, but you are all welcome to email me as well.  It is truly a fascinating example of the human body and genetics.

Now, the question I first had was…How will my instructors deal with this?  Can I make up 2 weeks worth of homework, tests, & quizzes?  What will happen to such great academic success I recently bragged about?  When this happened when I attended Des Moines Area Community College, one teacher was literally so impossible to work with, that she DEMANDED records and that I file for disability because in her words, “Cystic Fibrosis was made up.”  So, how would this new college and teachers deal with it if I only knew them since August?

IOWA WESTERN IS A CAMPUS THAT WANTS US TO SUCCEED!  All of my teachers were very understanding, including one who even VOLUNTEERED to send the lectures I would miss to my email account!  Another one, genuinely interested in my condition, asked to learn more about it! One more seemed to understand (although I did not believe he/she would) and was willing to work with me!  I have been in touch with yet another one, and although have no heard back yet, they are especially busy, I have no doubt that they will be able to help me!

Even my blogger boss, said I could take a break off if I needed to in order to make sure I was able to become healthier!  How THOUGHTFUL!

Seriously kids, live from Iowa City with Iv’s and Medication is LIVE PROOF YET AGAIN- that I PICKED THE GREATEST COMMUNITY COLLEGE!

Oh my gosh! You seem in such good spirits! I hope that you get to feeling better~ what a relief that your instructors have been good to work with. If there is anything I can do let me know. Have you talked with Linds about registering for next semester? It’s priority registration week, and I don’t want you to miss out on registration~ again… let me know if I can help.
    Take care!
