First Things Come First
Hey Reivers!
1st thing… Check out a little about me link. I don’t want to feel like total web strangers.
Then let me know who you are.
So, about a month into the term and might I just say, “Wow!” This is my first semester at Iowa Western Community College. Prior to that I was doing sales and marketing in the “real world.” (Yeah… mom and dad were totally right. The real world isn’t just a tv show. But there are definate scenes one has to see.)
It was fun and all, but I realized I wanted to pursue a career in education (teach secondary school or college.) That brought me here! TA DAH! So I am a freshman beginning out my college experience at IWCC. And truth be told, I like it! I’m also one of those insanely positive people.
I am taking 15 credits, and my schedule is pretty great! I am out every day by 12:50! How cool is that? I am in 2 psych courses, a math one, a comp class, and foundations of education. My teachers are actually nice and intelligent. (And I’m not saying that because they are probably reading the blog.)
They don’t just give me the answers (sorry for those of you that prefer the brainless style of education) but they help me figure out how to find them. Already I have had at least one test in every class. And the one that I basically did horrible on, the 6 extra credit essays gave me a chance to turn that ugly score around!
One day, I saw a post to be a Reiver blogger and basically write my opinions about the campus. Seems pretty interesting. I highly encourage you all who might feel a little lost in the hustle of back to school to find what you are good at. Even if it isn’t cool or something you have never done. I never figured I would use my xanga skills to blog for you all to read! Let alone enjoy it and meet some fun people! So if you are one of those awkward or shy individuals who prefer to stay that way rather than get out- so be it…but you aren’t going to have as great of a school year as if you admit what your good at and pursue it!
Next post is going to be on some annoying characteristics of students. Then I am going to give you all some pointers on how after 2 years of no education, I am managing to pull straight A’s thus far. And although it isn’t a piece of cake- it’s also not rocket science. So for those of you wishing you could do better- YOU CAN! And for those of you who are also fellow nerds, give me your own tips!
Check ya Later!
